What Are Hypopressives?

A Different Way to Train Your Core

Hypopressive exercise is a low-pressure workout technique that focuses on reducing intra-abdominal pressure while activating and strengthening the core and pelvic floor muscles.

It can be a stand-alone treatment, or an integral part of a comprehensive pelvic floor rehabilitation plan — tailored to your specific goals, whether that's improving core strength, posture, or athletic performance.

Why Choose a Physio?

Trained Clinically, Not Just in the Technique

A fully qualified physiotherapist understands the intricate anatomy and biomechanics of the body, providing safe and effective hypopressives training tailored to your individual needs — including integrating hypopressives into a holistic pelvic floor treatment plan addressing incontinence, prolapse, or postnatal recovery.

You'll benefit from a thorough physiotherapy assessment first, to make sure your programme is safe, effective, and aligned with your health goals.

Nicki trained under Abigail Maydew with the International Hypopressive Council. As a qualified physiotherapist and certified Hypopressives instructor, she offers a unique blend of clinical expertise and specialised training to help you manage your symptoms.

The more I understand about the pelvic floor — its complex anatomy, structure and function, as well as its relationship to the diaphragm, breath mechanics and movement — the more I am convinced that hypopressive exercise unlocks the key in many of my clients' pelvic floor dysfunction. I always advocate individual assessment and treatment, as no one person's road to recovery will be the same as another, but I will certainly inform my clients when hypopressives should be a part of their journey.
