Hysterectomy - help for you BEFORE and after surgery
Hysterectomy – supporting you before and after surgery
Choosing to have a hysterectomy is a huge and often emotional decision for a woman usually made in discussion with her wider team including GP and gynaecologist often after years of living with difficult and debilitating symptoms.
Despite the involvement of the GP and Gynae, women feel quite nervous, isolated and confused in the approach to surgery and the prospect of surgical menopause. Women still have questions and concerns, not all of which are answered satisfactorily often relying on facebook forums and the individual experiences of other women.
As specialist pelvic health physiotherapists, we’re here to support you every step of the way. We play a vital role in helping you to prepare for surgery. We can help you feel fully informed and confident in your decision by talking through what the surgery involves, what to expect afterwards, and any potential risks or side effects including surgical menopause. We’ll also ensure you’ve explored all appropriate conservative treatment options and help you prepare your body in the best possible way for surgery and recovery.
Where possible, we strongly recommend a pre-surgical assessment We are happy to do this as a remote call if easier and this can be booked on the website.
After surgery, we’ll guide you through your recovery with am individually tailored rehabilitation programme, supporting your return to daily activities, exercise, and long-term pelvic health.
Please enquire for pre-hysterectomy assessment and post-hysterectomy rehabilitation.
